Issue
This past weekend I was at GLORCS Race #5 at Legacy Hobbies and for the most part the weekend went pretty good. I do have one issue though. During qualifying and some of the mains, some of the language used on the drivers stand was completely unnecessary. I know some guys get caught up in the heat of the moment, but some of the things said were way over the line.
Its not the marshals fault you crashed or got caught up with another car, and even if the marshal may be off in la la land its still not his/her fault you crashed. If the marshal needs a head up about a car that he/she cannot see, it can be done with out dropping f-bombs and name calling on the stand. I will warn every driver now that will be attending the Finals at Action Hobbies, if I hear anything like what I heard this past weekend again, you will be disqualified from the whole event, whether your running for the championship or not. These are family events and should be treated as such.

I agree with you that sometimes people can have....hmmm, passionate moments and there are some people who get carried away. I agree that there is no place for it at GLORCS events and we will not tolerate people getting out of control on the drivers stand. I agree that we are trying to foster a family enviroment and yelling at swearing at someone for not getting to the car YOU just crashed is not the behaviour we encourage. This is quite possibly why they are going to to no talking rules at some of the major races in the US.
GLORCS has established rules for these types of situations and we encourage the RD to enforce them whenever they see fit. |

I agree with Rob 100%. It needs to be addressed at the drivers meeting at every event. I have noticed it a lot at the last 2 GLORCS events. I understand yelling "Marshall" when they don't see the car but yelling "Marshall you stupid f--k. which was one of the quotes this past weekend is a little much.

I agree...
It has been said there should be something in the rules......I bring this to your attention FROM THE EXISITNG RULES; Penalties and Disqualification (6) BLACK FLAG 1. A black flag will be given to a driver whose driving, car operation, or performance constitutes a hazard to the other cars in the race. This includes insufficient skills to compete in the class, unsportsmanlike driving and intentional hitting of other cars, intentional short coursing, intentional blocking when being overtaken, and other such acts. Discretion is to be left to the race director. 2. When a driver is given the Black Flag, it means that driver must pull their vehicle off the track immediately. 3. A black flag ruling may be used at any time for unsportsmanlike conduct or abusive language to other drivers, marshals or race officials 4. Any car that loses its body or that cannot be controlled properly due to radio problems, race damage, or missing parts will be black-flagged. Last edited by Fozy; 08-18-2008 at 10:22 PM. |
